Of all the funny jokes on the internet, this may be the smartest. It has been said that the Jester was the only one who could talk straight to the King. The bells and stupid hat protected him from anger. This is certainly true in our digital age, when the most stupid pranks (yes, genitalia-pics sent to social media CEO) say the most profound things about surveillance, intermediary privilege, editorial responsibility and, well, ourselves.
