Unprecedented internet alliance formed in wake of Snowden

The G8 of Internet corporations have jointly called on the US Government to initiate “broad-scale changes” to its surveillance practices.

The eight firms – Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, AOL, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Yahoo – have entered into an alliance under the umbrella moniker “Reform Government Surveillance“.

In a letter to the US President and Congress, they claim surveillance “undermines the freedom” of citizens globally.
