Google Play has moved to close a security loop-hole through which entire WhatsApp conversations were being made available for sale on a third-party website.
The culprit was BalloonPop2 game, which stole data directly from Android phones. Users’ private conversations were then listed for sale on the website WhatsAppCopy.
Since news of the threat broke during the weekend, McAfee has added the game to mobile antivirus detection programmes, and Twitter has shut down WhatsAppCopy’s account.
