Anti-phishing standards bear fruit

Google has declared victory against phishing emails, with almost all emails received through Gmail now authenticated through one of two widely adopted industry standards.

The DomainKey Identified Email (DKIM) or Sender Policy Framework (SPF) standards help prevent email impersonation, something Gmail says accounts for over 91 per cent of non-spam emails.

In addition, over 80,000 domains have deployed the DMARC standard domain-wide policy that allows Gmail to reject millions of suspect emails.
