Free Wi-Fi for Harlem

13 December 2013 | Netopia

Harlem, New York, is about to enjoy the largest public Wi-Fi in the USA in a move announced during Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s farewell tour of the city.

The Wi-Fi will stretch for 95 blocks, cover approximately 3 square miles, and bring instant internet to over 80,000 Harlem residents – 13,000 of which live in public rented housing.

The service is set for connection over three stages starting this month, continuing in February next year, and launching by May 2014.

Most of Manhattan’s NYC Subway system is soon also set to offer free Wi-Fi connection.
