Amazon wins court ruling over IBM in CIA cloud contract

The US Court of Federal Claims ruled in favour of Amazon’s cloud computing contract with the CIA, reversing the Government Accountability Office recommendation and shutting down IBM’s efforts to reopen the bidding competition. IBM announced it plans to appeal this decision.

Earlier this year, Amazon won the $600 million contract to build a Web-based infrastructure for the CIA. IBM protested, claiming Amazon had not satisfied the necessary criteria for the contract.
