Commission’s Proposal Towards an EU Single Market for Telecoms

The European Commission adopted yesterday its “Connected Continent” legislative package, an ambitious plan in telecoms market reform. The proposal aims at reducing the roaming and international call premiums, simplifying red tape faced by companies, and bringing a range of new rights for both users and service providers.

Even if the previous reforms in the European Union have helped transform the telecom sector, those services are still operated largely on the basis of 28 national markets. The new legislative package proposed therefore addresses this problem.
