Flood of New Subscriptions for German Email Providers

In recent weeks, German email providers have seen a surge of new subscription – up to 80%increase – following the NSA internet monitoring scandal. Companies used concerns over US surveillance as part of their marketing campaign, promoting their accounts as being among the most secure in the world. Deutsche Telekom even launched a campaign designed to make German email traffic more secure.

This flood of new customers happened not only thanks to the strong and clear country’s data protection laws but also because the way in which they are enforced is seen as more reliable.
