Internet users hit 60% of shop online

Internet access is very diffuse in the EU and so, as part of the European Year of Citizens 2013, the week of 14-20 October has been dedicated to the online shopping.

To mark the event, Eurostat has published data on online purchasing by individual, revealing that, in the EU 28 in 2012, 70% of individuals between 16 and 74 yo had used the internet in the previous 12 months, and nearly 60% of these users reported that they had shopped online. The highest shares registered where from: UK (82%), Denmark and Sweden (79%) and Germany (77%). The lowest shares were registered in: Romania (11%), Bulgaria (17%), Estonia and Italy (29%).
