According to a report by Forrester Research published in August, the global installed base of tablets will reach 905 million by 2017. Tablets will be used by over one in eight people on earth, including 29% of online consumers globally.
Forrester estimates that 60% of North American online consumers will own a tablet, compared to 42% in Europe and 25% in the developing world. Meanwhile, total worldwide sales of tablets will reach 381 million units, a compound annual growth rate of 25.6%. Although a majority of tablets will be purchased by consumers, enterprise purchases will make up 18%.
