Reports suggest that the Silk Road – the anonymous marketplace trading in drugs and other illegal goods – is back.
The first version of the website was shut down by the FBI in October, and its alleged administrator was arrested. Now, a second version is up and already offering a wide selection of drugs, according to AllThingsVice.
In its first two years, the Silk Road has banked over USD 1.8 million by taking a percentage of sales.
While it remains uncertain whether the new site is a genuine replacement or a scam, one thing is clear – it is big business.
