The US favour Multi-stakeholder Internet Governance

For the first time, the US State Department’s Bureau of International Organization Affairs is granting $350,000 as a one-time contribution for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). This funding – that will cover IGF’s operational expenses – shows the Country’s recognition for the Forum and its contributions to multi-stakeholder internet governance.

The IGF was established by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) to support the United Nations Secretary-General in ensuring a continued open, interoperable and secure internet. It is an extra-budgetary project, funded through donations from the various stakeholder groups.
