Personal identity theft has become so common that cybercriminals find themselves forced to slash resale prices – with a full US ID currently priced at just $25, according to a recent report from Dell SecureWorks.
The supply of stolen US identities have rocketed over the past two years, to the point where fraudsters find themselves in a buyers’ market and identities have become commoditized.
For $4, a buyer can pick up the details to a person’s MasterCard or Visa. For a few dollars more, they can get Discover and American Express details thrown in. For a disturbingly low $300, a buyer can gain access to an online banking account with a balance of $75-150,000.
